Frank-Christian Hansel

FCH was born in 1964 in Wiesbaden, Germany. and grew up and completed school in Munich; lives in Berlin since 1986. He holds a Diploma in Political Science.

Professional and Political Career

Directly after German reunification (1990/1991), he served as Head of the Office of the Chief of the Magistrate’s Chancellery* at the Berliner Rotes Rathaus (Berlin City Hall).

After the first all-Berlin elections in 1991, he joined the Treuhandanstalt Berlin* and worked there until 2002 in various roles, including in the presidential area for state questions and the Treuhand real-estate company (TLG) as well as in the management of KoKo companies.

From 1995 onward, he ran his own business consulting firms CubaCon and CONSAL*, advising German companies in Cuba and Latin America on projects including airport development.

Between 2002 and 2012, he served as Germany Managing Director for the Spanish real-estate AG Metrovacesa, S.A.* with offices in Berlin, Stuttgart and Frankfurt/Main.

AfD Involvement and Party Roles

At the founding congress of the Berlin AfD in April 2013, he was elected Treasurer and became a member of the Berlin AfD executive board.

He was re-elected multiple times* and served in this position until 2023, completing a ten-year organizational role managing AfD finances in Berlin.

From August 2013 to March 2014, he was a co-opted member of the AfD federal board* as “Länderkoordinator”.

From 2015 to 22 September 2018 he was elected Chairman of the AfD State Treasurer Conference, and subsequently **Berlin delegate to the AfD Federal Convention*.

AfD Local Politics

In December 2014, he was elected **Chairman of the Berlin AfD District Association Tempelhof-Schöneberg. He later served in various district board positions including District Treasurer and Board Member until at least 2021.

From October 2013 to November 2014, together with Georg Pazderski, he was full-time Federal Managing Director of the Alternative for Germany and later Parliamentary Group Manager in the AfD Brandenburg faction in the State Parliament of Brandenburg (2014–2016).

Parliamentary Career

Elected on the Berlin AfD state list to the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin (Berlin State Parliament).

With the AfD faction in the Abgeordnetenhaus, he was Parliamentary Group Secretary after the 2016 election.

He chaired the Committee for Economy and Energy and in later terms focused on speaking roles in Economy, Tourism, Civil Aviation, Energy and Climate.

Mr. Hansel is also a (founding) member of the DESIDERIUS-ERASMUS foundation.
